Hey everybody. I would like to take a second to tell you that we released my new single on iTunes today. We weren’t planning on releasing it this early, but a few radio stations have begun to play it, and we wanted to make sure that people could get the song if they wanted too. I hope you like it. It is called “Make You Crazy”, and it features Femi Kuti. Everything else is going well. I finished the Mayer tour, and am enjoying a little time off before I go to Australia. Take care. -Brett

This is a cool video my friend showed me. As you may know, I love to garden and I think everyone at some point in their life should have a garden. It’s good for the soul, body, and it is one of the many things we can do to reduce green house gasses. -Brett
If you don’t know about Missy, you do now. I did a tour with her and Mason Jennings earlier this year, and since then I have become a friend and fan. If you live in the NYC area, check her out at webster hall tomorrow night.
She has one of the most unique voices I have ever heard, and I am lucky enough to have her sing on two songs that are on my upcoming album, Hope For The Hopeless. Here is a photo of her and I hanging on John Alagia’s fire escape at the Village Recorder, in between takes.
I had a lot of ideas for what I wanted her to sing, but for every idea I had, she had a million better ideas, and the songs came out better than I could have imagined. She gets nothing but love from me and I hope you like her as much as I do. She is from Australia, and is a super star down there, but is spending some time in the US building a following here. I am going down to Australia in september for the first time, and it feels like I am starting all over again, playing in places that I have never been, for people who have never heard of me. So take my word for it and check Missy out. I am a big fan and I want to help spread the word about her.
P.S. you can see my Australia dates in the touring section
The other day we played the Usana Center, near Salt Lake City Utah. We Gathered side stage to walk on and start the show, but Danny and Andrew were missing. Our friend Amy comes running up and tells us that they are stuck on the bus. We tried and tried, but nobody could get the door open, so the boys had to climb out the window and walk right on stage.
Brett Dennen was featured today in USA Today as an opening act not to miss!
“Concertgoers arriving early at three hot summer shows are getting more than a good parking spot. Find out why fans are likely to warm up to warm-up acts Brett Dennen (John Mayer Summer Tour), Liars (Radiohead) and Sharon Little (Robert Plant & Alison Krauss), each handpicked by the headliner.”
Tune in to Fox & Friends Weekend Morning Show on Fox News Channel this Saturday at 8:30am EST to see Brett and John Mayer joined on the road by voter registration organization Head Count, who register fans to vote at each show. Brett talks about the importance of using your voice for change and talks about his upcoming plans for a new album in October.
Also, this weekend Brett will play the Mile High Festival in Colorado with artists like Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers topping the bill.
Yesterday in NYC, I met the incredible Femi Kuti. Femi is a Nigerian singer/musician, who is regarded as a Bob Marley, or John Lennon, in terms of his uplifting message and socio-political songs. His father was the legendary Fela Kuti, a rebel voice, and godfather of Afro-Beat. Femi sang on a song on my upcoming album, “Hope for the Hopeless”. It was an inspiring experience, truly one of the highlights of my life.
